There are an increasing number of affiliates using social media to drive affiliate sales. Typically these affiliates will set up profiles on Twitter, Facebook and other social media websites with a false identity, and then grow a large number of followers. Once they have a large number of followers they will then send them a promotion. These users can drive lots of traffic and some of these profiles are even bought and sold due to their value as traffic generators. Consumers can quickly become unhappy with this type of promotion, so brands should be wary of this type of affiliate.
