Last night a friend of mine asked me for some advice about Facebook and how to make their clients Facebook page take off, we had a little brain storm and I thought I would share some of our ideas and ask yours. There client is a small online retailer.
Firstly set up the page and make sure that their current marketing includes information about their new page.
They have an email newsletter that goes out make sure that people are invited to join the page from the news letter.
Add Facebook sharing to the newsletter to get people to where the content that they are producing on Facebook.
Why not start a competition where they take a photo of themselves with an item of the companies merchandise and tag themselves and the fan page in the photo, that way spreading the news about the page. Taking that to another level team up with suppliers that want to get more promotion for the products that they resell and use their products in the promotion which they also send to their customers. Give them a prize for the photo of the month which they will post a photo of on Facebook.
One of the biggest tips I can give is to team up with others for social media promotions so you both benefit from exposure to a larger audience.

I’ve had the best luck with giving something away ( free appetizer, consultation, session, etc) for joining the group.
I also think it’s important to make a squeeze page that your fan loads when users go to it explaining the offer and giving therm incentive to join it.
You might also have luck using a scarcity play on your offer ‘First 100 people to join get a free x”
yep, make it fun or rewarding to join the Page – or else it risks becoming as boring as a run-of-the mill corporate blog!
