Tell me about your Blog?

Our blog is about providing cool and fun employee development and engagement information, providing our readers with useful tools, hints and tips they can take back into their work place. We also like to help challenge peoples thinking and encourage them to look at things differently, so often there are posts which encourage and debate different perspectives. We encourage people to leave their views as comments on the posts and this has started some interesting discussions.

What is the biggest tip you would give to a newbie blogger?

Be passionate and true about what you blog. If you feel it, people will engage with it. It’s ok to be controversial at times but recognise your audience and don’t just do it for effect.

Where do you see growth in the blogging field?

In training and development it’s becoming a must, clients are expecting to be able to see more about you and your service offering, and it’s a great way to share free resources and ideas. It can be the start of some really great relationships. Those blogging regularly are seen to be leading from the front, which is a key differentiator in businesses today.

What do you do that is green?

We recycle everything we can and our systems are predominantly web based so there is no need to print anything off, unless it’s absolutely necessary.

What’s your favorite book?

Favourite books – for relaxation, something that makes me think – Stella RImington’s new novel at the moment (Dead Line), or Stephen Fry. For work, books on how we think – Influence by Robert Caldini, The Decisive Moment by Jonah Lehrer, Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely

  • Thanks to Vandy for mentioning me in such impressive company. I couldn’t agree more with her emphasis on passion and truth in blogging. If I don’t care deeply about a post, why should anyone else? And if I can’t be authentic on my own website, then what’s the point of having one?
