PPC Summit is a conference held in several cities around the United States that focuses on Pay Per Click affiliate programs. The PPC Summit New York 2009 will take place on May 13 &14 at the Westin Jersey City Newport in Jersey City, New Jersey. The two day pass is listed at $1,395.

With a focus on “How To” workshops, PPC Summit is first and foremost an educational experience for affiliate marketing. Workshops are interactive and will introduce strategies for PPC. If you are in digital marketing, email marketing, affiliate marketing or Ecommerce, this is a great conference to refine your craft.

Among other topics, the PPC Summit will cover SEM, keyword strategies, effective copywriting, tracking strategies, landing page creation, metric analysis, and even what kind of programs and tools that are out there that you should avoid. There will be experts there with experience on Google Adwords, Overture, MSN adCenter and many other Pay Per Click channels.

The conference is a great destination if you are looking to learn more about how to manage PPC and SEM campaigns, network with PPC vendors and other affiliate marketers, and generally be surrounded by SEM experts with the chance to ask questions and talk about where you are at with your own affiliate marketing campaign.

Ebooks are fast becoming a new medium for publishing and information. From personal branding to “How To…” books, ebooks are an emerging form of building an online reputation and a great way to be part of the emerging green economy. Ebooks are inexpensive to create, easy to distribute, and have a low carbon footprint.

So how do you incorporate you Ebook as part of your affiliate marketing program, or as part of any marketing program? A few thoughts:

1.    Website Menu Bar
The first place your new Ebook should go is on the menu bar of your personal website or blog. Even if you have published many Ebooks, putting them on the menu bar of your website or blog keeps them prominent in the eyes of your visitors. This way if someone comes to your website for contact information or to read a new blog post, they will also be exposed to the fact that you have an Ebook- and it’s important enough for you to feature it along with the other main content on your website.

2.    Web/ Blog Samples
Offering a sample chapter or sample pieces of your Ebook on your website or blog is great way to get people reading your Ebook. If they like what they read, they will want more. Even if they don’t buy or download the book, they will remember what you wrote and it increases your reputation. Rather than leaving your site knowing that you wrote an Ebook and forgetting what it was about, they will leave having learned something: Adding value is a great way to establish your online reputation and get return traffic.

3.    Blog Reviews
With the importance of the online community in all kinds of information travel and online promotion, it is a must that you get your Ebook reviewed on some blogs. Look for people who write about topics that overlap with what your Ebook is about, even if it isn’t exactly the same topic. Sending your Ebook for review may also get a mention in other articles that those bloggers write- and it gets them to remember your name when they are thinking about who to contact for future articles.

4.    Twitter
Twitter has many uses, and Twitter is great for Ebook promotion. Launching your Ebook on Twitter will get you out to a huge audience, and you can target specific niche audiences that identify as part of your targeted readership. The prospect of having a link to samples or to the book page itself get to thousands of Followers is powerful enough, but on Twitter things get ReTweeted- this can grow your audience exponentially.

5.    Landing Pages
If you are selling your Ebook, you need a good landing page. The landing page will give you a chance to build interest in someone who has already responded positively to the topic or title of your Ebook. The landing page should be slightly different than product landing pages- it should focus on how the Ebook will add value to the life of its reader and feature reviews rather than testimonials.

With writing an Ebook being as accessible to anyone using the web as it is, now is the time to become an author. Marketing that Ebook can have benefits beyond profit in the world of online and social networking- Start Writing!

When I started out as an affiliate marketer there were many people who helped me learn the ropes. Whether that meant explaining what an email marketing campaign was, connecting me to other digital marketing people or talking to me about the finer points of lead generation and sales conversion. And of course there were the long sessions with landing pages and banner ads, trying to figure out what affiliate marketing approach would be best for which product.

For any of you who are just starting out with affiliate marketing, or for those of you who have been at it for a long time and are looking for some inspiration, here are some thoughts about how to create a quality, effecting affiliate marketing program:

1. Plan Your Content
Whether you are launching a new product or starting with a new affiliate marketing network, you have to know everything, that’s a given. Once you want to start marketing your product, it is a good idea to sit down with all of that information, figure out how it relates to your affiliate marketing program and plan how you will put the content out. Start with information that will build awareness around the field, then information that points them to your links or products, then guide them to information that shows them why your products and links are the best choices. Start with the general, then be the expert they want to turn to.

2. Brand Yourself
You hear a lot about branding these days, especially personal branding. What does branding mean for affiliate marketing? It means creating a marketing identity for yourself through social media channels and your online presence. It means aligning yourself with products that fit with that marketing identity. And then it means creating an affiliate marketing campaign that features that identity. Powerful.

3. Interact
In the evolving social media landscape, successful affiliate marketing programs will need to be creative to stay ahead. Consider direct social media interaction as part of your lead generation approach. Not that you should randomly start cold emailing or messaging people you don’t know, but there is something to be said for an affiliate marketer who reaches out, maybe through a forum or in a Twitter conversation, to people who are already talking about something related to his/her product. The personal touch will never rival email marketing for volume, but it can do wonders for your sales conversion rates.

4. Add Value
In their excitement to be successful affiliates, many who are new to the field get lost in the web design and digital marketing side of affiliate marketing. While absolutely crucial, social media communications and connections have made it necessary to be more than just a merchant. Adding value to your affiliate marketing network and to the online experience of your potential leads. What does add value mean? It means keep a blog, make a point of following up with sales, offer free guides, work with other bloggers and affiliate marketers on projects… just to name a few ideas.

5. Do Details
Details matter. Details is a big concept, and really what it means is making sure that you tie up loose ends with sales, stay in good contact with your affiliate network, and remember the things that are important to the people you count on. Often what seems like a detail to you is a big deal to someone else. Neglecting it will strain the partnership, but making sure everything is taken care of, especially the details, will keep things on the right track.
