SEO guru with SEO Adviser Blogger Howard Farmer an InterviewSEOAdviser.info.
Tell me about your Blog?
SeoAdviser.info was launched in Aug 2008 to promote our SEO / Site Design services. There are 3 partners offering extensive experience in the IT and the Web services market: we concentrate on SEO, web content and web databases. The 3 elements integrate well to provide our clients with solutions to gain top rankings in Google and other search engines. The “blog” is regularly updated with advice, videos and tools to explain SEO to a wide audience.
What was your first blog?
We have about 20 blogs but the oldest started life as a traditional website in Feb 2000: Gites-in-France.co.uk; However, we were (and still are!) so impressed with WordPress (#1 free blog software) that we converted the site to the WordPress format about 12 months ago.
What is the biggest tip you would give to a newbie?
Anybody launching a website should seriously consider using the WordPress platform. Most hosting services support WordPress (and often offer one click installation of WordPress); it is free and extremely easy to use. For beginners it is ideal as it separates design from content. Choose from the very many free professional templates for an excellent design. The CMS (content management system) is easy to use to add your content. By default, WordPress is a Web 2.0 platform so that users of your website can contribute content and participate!
What do advertisers do that you wish they wouldn’t?
Too many bloggers use Google Adsense all over their site; it is seen as easy solution to advertising revenue. Better revenue can often be achieved by using advertising networks such as CJ (Commission Junction) or CPA networks. Choosing promotion/adverts that are relevant to a post can lead to bigger commissions.
What do bloggers do that you wish they wouldn’t?
Most bloggers start with great enthusiasm and expect instant results. Building up traffic and readers takes time. One of they key factors is to provide excellent content on a regular basis. Readers begin to expect to see new content on a regular basis. So it is better to provide an excellent post once a week rather than a rush of posts and then great gaps in publishing new content.
Where do you see growth in the blogging field?
More traditional websites moving to WordPress (or othe CMS platforms)!
What new ideas are advertisers coming up with to take advantage of new trends?
Google Adsense revenue is decreasing for many sites and Google will need to address this problem. Google are very innovative – so watch this space!
What do you do to improve the world?
Keep spending to boost the British economy and solve the world financial crisis!
What do you do that is green?
Ah – yes, on a serious note I am very concerned about Planet Earth; the current cycle looks bleak but I am not sure the emphasis is correct. I believe that the change in weather patterns and global warming could be due to an underlying Geological change. OK – we are not helping with CO2 emissions, etc but we as members of Planet Earth may not be the underlying cause. Of course, there is a need for action and I have a blog that looks at environmental issues: myEnvironmentConcerns.info
What is one thing about you that not many people know?
Francophile!
What’s your favorite book?
