London Marketing and PR company Bull Creative Ltd / Bull Marketing and PR run by Delia Bull now Delia Debenham is an integrated London full service agency that helps companies grow. They have an in-house design team and specialize in advertising, Internet marketing and E-commerce websites. As part of my continuing interest in website design in and around London, I wanted to highlight their site as a great example of how to put together a professional, effective website.

Content:
The site is professional, makes a lasting impression and is structured for easy navigation.
The active header at the top of the welcome page cycles key terms about what they do and a bull graphic with the tagline, “Go on, Grab the Bull by the horns.” This is both professional and fun, leaving visitors with a lasting impression.

The two most prominent links are “Call Me” and “Portfolio.” Call Me leads to a simple contact request form that allows you to request a call from Bull during a specific time period- great customer service before you even meet them. Portfolio is an instant PDF download that gives a beautiful, professional sampling of 13 projects from their range of work.

The content breaks down into News and Articles about recent work and straightforward descriptions of services. The News and Articles go into detail about successful campaigns and highlight satisfied customers. Their service descriptions break down into London Marketing, London Public Relations, London Design, and London Internet Marketing. The services are presented in a professional, straightforward way that tells you want you need to know and shows that Bull is a leader in their field.
In a recent post I also talked about three key areas to look at in website design: visual appeal, creativity, and function. Bull Marketing’s BullUk.com has all of this and more.

Visual Appeal: The site’s visual appeal is immediate- it has a great color scheme that blends blues and purples to create an attractive, professional feel. There is an active banner bar that blends core statements about what they do with their message to “Grab the bull by the horns.” The rest of the page is a clear mission statement with background on what they do and how to learn more- everything you look for in a homepage.

Creativity: The active banner makes creative use of images and graphic animation in a way that makes a statement without distracting from the site. They even have their contact link, “Call Me” flashing. This is a creative way to make sure that visitors don’t need to hunt for contact information, which seems to be the case on so many other websites.

Function: The site has straightforward navigation that makes it easy to learn more about Bull Marketing and PR from several angles. There is a pull-down navigation menu for the site, and instead of crowding the side of the page with links they display them at the bottom. They display links to “News & Articles,” which is a great strategic move that invites visitors to first learn about them through posts that add value.

I highly recommend visiting www.BullUk.com as an example of top quality London web design. And if you are looking for E-commerce, Internet marketing or other PR services, they should be your first call.

Settling in for my flight the other day, I was thinking about how being a frequent traveler affects the environment. I went through my mental checklist of how I had made my trip as green as possible:

I purchased carbon offsets for my flight. I used public transportation to get to the airport. I brought my own food and water for the flight in reusable bags and bottles so that I wouldn’t use all the plastic and napkins they give you on the plane. I even chose my hotel based on some eco-friendly practices research.

Feeling pretty good about myself, I sat back to enjoy the flight and pulled out my book. Then it hit me- a paper book!  Why didn’t I have an ebook?

As an ebook author and someone who is always looking to lower his carbon footprint, I had no idea. So, I used my book to jot down some notes on why ebooks are better than paper books.

Why Ebooks Are Better:
1. Ebooks have a low carbon footprint. To make a paper book, you need to cut down a tree, burn fossil fuels to transport and process the wood, burn them again to transport the paper, burn them again to put it through the printing process, and use energy to produce and transport the final product. I don’t even know how to calculate that, but I do know that my ebook uses somewhere close to the same amount of energy it takes to boil water a few times. No trees involved.

2. Ebooks cost less. On average, ebooks cost less to purchase than paper books. With no printing or distribution costs, you can still get all of the information without paying the same price.
3. Ebooks can be shared. If I want my brother to read the book that I’m reading, he’ll have to wait for me to finish it and pass it on. If I want him to read the ebook I’m reading, I can get it to him instantly.

4. Ebooks are easy to carry. For everyone who loves the feel and size of a book, you can download ebooks to a Kindle. I can see book lovers sneering, thinking about how they love the feel and smell of their paperbacks. Do you love how heavy they are when you travel? Do you love that you can only bring 1 or 2 along with you? Do you love that you take up massive storage space in your home or travel bag with them? I don’t. With the Kindle or my computer I can bring as many books as I want, carry them all in one piece and store them in my carry-on. Do I miss paper books? A little. Kind of like missing the typewriter I used to use 20 years ago to write things. You with me?

I still enjoyed reading my paper book- like a lot of things I got used to after being raised in a society with a high carbon footprint, I’ll always have a soft spot for them. But, I do think ebooks are better in so many ways. Next time, I’ll be reading an ebook.

I’ve been talking with a lot of people lately about politics, the economy and the environment. We’re all aware that everything is changing, from the rules to the partnerships, especially the preconceptions about business.

Having just finished writing an ebook called “How to Save Money and the Planet” (shameless plug! Great book!) people have started asking me about my other passion: affiliate programs.

With all of the affiliate marketing I do, ask me:  “How does ‘green’ fit into affiliate marketing?“ “What about an ebook affiliate program?” “Where do you think an affiliate program will end up as the economy adjusts?”

I think the affiliate program model will thrive and expand in the growing green economy. As for any ebook affiliate program, it will only grow as ebooks take the place of traditional paper books, and that’s part of the green economy. Ebooks and affiliate programs both exist online, so they’re a natural fit in an economy looking to minimize cost and waste but maximize community and networking. In my mind, any ebook affiliate program is already a green affiliate program.

And affiliate programs are definitely part of the emerging green economy.

As the green economy keeps growing, I am seeing new combinations of business and environmental activism. Just last week in San Francisco, Virgance, whose tagline is “Activism 2.0,” held a party showcasing their new network of green companies. Virgance uses campaign style organizing and a network of green companies and blogs to push environmental activism to the next level. They utilize like-minded people to effect social change—and they make money doing it! I think the affiliate program model will be increasingly more popular as Internet business expands.

Another group in the San Francisco Bay Area, known as Green For All, also believes that what is good for the environment can be good for the bottom line. While the group itself is a non-profit, they advocate for retraining blue collar workers who are losing their jobs to retrofit homes and do green construction. Their goal is to influence public policy to fund green business ventures that create jobs. Again, here is a group that is combining what

These businesses are set up to make money and help the Earth at the same time: Virgance, Green for All and my green ebook affiliate program all use social change and community action in a for-profit model. No longer is the idea of saving the environment and making a profit mutually exclusive.

As I said, affiliate programs are part of the emerging green economy. I’m sure the questions will keep coming as well as the interesting new company models. Green is the future of business, affiliate program or otherwise.

I have just launched my Ebook Affiliate Program to promote my Green Ebook “How to Save Money and the Planet”.

This is a green affiliate program and I am looking for green affiliate bloggers with green affiliate blogs to write reviews. There are a variety of landing pages available and I am willing to make custom landing pages.  I am happy to provide example reviews, banners and keywords upon request.  If you have experience running ebook affiliate programs on ebay or via your own merchant shop then I would be happy to sell my product in your inventory.

As the title of the book suggests it is very much focused on how to save money and stop waste, as well as how to save the environment.  Making money ebooks and get rich ebooks book are very popular in any economy. In a recession climate consumers want to save money and are conscious that with their limited income they need the money they have to go further and have spare money to payback debts.

This is an opportunity to both make money as an affiliate and do something positive for the environment and help to save the planet.

I also have a twitter ebook I am seeking to promote. If you are interested in promoting either of these products please contact me via my contact page.

This is the Ebook Affiliate Program

An earthquake near L’Aquila, Italy, registering between 5.8 and 6.3 on the Richter scale, has killed more than 100 people and forced thousands to leave their homes. With that death toll rising, Italian leaders and citizens are asking the inevitable question: Could we have known about this? And what could we have done about it?

Science is not about prediction, science is about research and analysis. That said, Giacchino Giuliani, an Italian seismologist, warned of an impending earthquake just weeks before the actual disaster (http://bit.ly/1oNaav). He was reportedly silenced by the government who said that his warning had no scientific basis.

Sound familiar? Global warming research and climate change science are publishing an increasing amount of research around carbon emissions, greenhouse gasses and the human carbon footprint. For decades scientists and environmentalists have been talking about the effects of carbon emissions, global warming and the accelerating effects of climate change.

Still, there are people and associations telling us that we have nothing to worry about, that there is little scientific basis to link climate change and global warming to carbon emissions from fossil fuels. There is. The L’Aquila earthquake is the most recent example of what can happen when we fail to listen to, understand, and act on scientific research.

Carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels are a well-established cause of both global warming and climate change. Hearing a story about the L’Aquila earthquake or melting polar ice caps may leave you wondering, what can I do?

This is where knowing your carbon footprint and taking action comes in. Calculate your carbon footprint today! It will empower you to take action in your personal life to do something about climate change and your personal carbon emissions.

Now is the time to learn about your personal carbon footprint and start taking action to embrace a low carbon life. A low carbon life will help you to do your part to save the planet and will even help you save money, a welcome bonus in difficult economic times.

While there may be debate around how specific predictions of earthquakes like the one in L’Aquila or specific predictions of how long we have to do something to battle and reverse climate change and global warming, it is clear that scientific research and analysis offers important warnings about trends and changes in the environment.

Being aware of your personal carbon footprint is the first step toward changing your personal habits and acting to curb global warming and climate change. It is no longer just an option, it is a necessary action based on scientific research.

With 1000% + growth each month of 2009, Twitter becomes more and more relevant and powerful with each passing day- in fact, by the second. Twitter users have long gone beyond the Twitter status prompt of “What are you doing?” Social connections, professional connections, blog promotion, targeted affiliate marketing and real-time customer service are just a few of the ways that Twitter is utilized by the business world.

But what if you are in email marketing? How does Twitter change email marketing? How can and will email marketing adapt to Twitter? Do Twitter and email overlap at all and if so, how?
Here are a few thoughts on how Twitter and Email Marketing crossover:

List Building: Adding someone to your email list means a chance to communicate, promote a product, build a lead or convert a sale. In Twitter, when someone becomes a “Follower” of your tweets, they are basically signing up for a more informal version of your email list. While sending 5 emails to the same person in one day is totally unacceptable for an email marketing campaign, 5 tweets per day is perfectly acceptable. Of course, Twitter updates can’t all be self- or product promotion, but they are communication and give you a consistent, visible opportunity to build your reputation in the eyes of customers. For building lists, advantage Twitter.

Targeted Versions: With Email marketing it is easier to differentiate contacts and customers from each other. You can write multiple versions of an announcement or launch, enabling you to target a large list of people with a particular message. On Twitter this is more difficult. Because your tweets go out to all of your Followers, you must broadcast the same message to all of your Followers. There is the Direct Message (DM) option, but this works only for one Follower at a time. For targeted versions of communication or an announcement, advantage Email marketing.

Resources Required: To create a quality Email marketing campaign you need graphics, copywriting and drafts of everything. Unless you have all of those skills and the time to do them right, that probably means paying someone to help create your email marketing campaign. With Twitter, you don’t need graphics or intense copywriting or editing. After all, Twitter updates are only 140 characters. And, they can link to web pages you have already invested in building. To launch a campaign to a large market with minimal resources, advantage Twitter.

Consistency: Twitter requires a consistent time commitment. You will not get very far on Twitter if you don’t use it every day, or at least every other day. Showing up once per week with a sales message on Twitter will get you ignored. Showing up everyday and ReTweeting, adding value and taking part in conversations will get you clicks when you do tweet something about a new product or blog post.  But all of that takes time and creativity on a consistent basis. With Email marketing, you still need to commit time, creativity and resources but you can do it in waves, when you have that time, that creativity and those resources. If you craft a quality campaign you will get results, even if your audience hasn’t heard from you in a while. For this reasons, advantage Email marketing.

In the end, both are still relevant and necessary in the Ecommerce and online marketing world- each fills a necessary way to reach and cultivate an audience. The trick is knowing how and when to use each.
