 How To Make My Blog

Tell me about your Blog?

I blog about blogging at http://howtomakemyblog.com . I focus on WordPress, Thesis Theme, blog promotion and affiliate marketing.

What was your first blog?

My first blog was about my favorite band, Metallica. It is currently at http://metallicablogmagnetic.com

What is the biggest tip you would give to a newbie blogger?

Don’t plan too much, just start writing useful content. Bloggers tend to talk about starting for months, then they work on design for months… it is waste of time. Buy the domain name, install WordPress, start writing content and go out to Twitter, StumbleUpon and start promoting.

What do advertisers do that you wish they wouldn’t?

Use too many banner ads? I prefer to promote products via reviews, recommendations etc, instead of same old boring banners. I never click on them, never see them at all… total banner blindness.

What do bloggers do that you wish they wouldn’t?

Too many bloggers give up to soon. It is not easy to blog and many do find out how hard it can be so they give up. It is hard to writing new articles consistently, it is hard to go out and promote your blog and so on. But if you take your time, put some effort into it, you will soon see the benefits.

Where do you see growth in the blogging field?

I believe video blogging is where you can differentiate yourself easier. Text is so saturated and so many are doing it, while video is still pretty new and not so crowded. So I think that is where everyone will be soon…

What new ideas are advertisers coming up with to take advantage of new trends?

I like some of the Twitter campaigns some companies do. Like tweet our message for a chance to win something. Great way of spreading the word about your brand. A bit spammy though but it works.

What do you do to improve the world?

I try to motivate people and help people realize their blogging ambitions and blogging dreams.

What do you do that is green?

I recycle? And cycle? And try to eat less meat?

What is one thing about you that not many people know?

I am pretty new in the blogging world, so many people do not know much about me…. yet!

What’s your favorite book?

Not one that stands out really but I do read. I read “Island of Doctor Moreau” last week and that was good. Now reading “Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance”.

What is on your iPod?

GB’s of stuff. I am listening to the new Gossip and the new Chickenfoot albums this week. Also just got introduced to Gogol Bordello couple of days ago…

What are your contact details (email, company, blog, facebook, myspace, forums, etc)?

blog: Howtomakemyblog.com
Twitter: @howtomakemyblog
FriendFeed: howtomakemyblog

What events do you go to?

I just went to the London Tweetup last night. I was impressed, very nice way of meeting like-minded people so I will be going to as many as possible of the similar events in the future.

How do you prefer to communicate?

EMail, Gtalk, iChat, Skype, Twitter… any would do for me.

Who would you recommend, and why?

I’ll do it by their Twitter usernames, mostly bloggers that I follow and respect. Everyone can learn a lot from each of them:

@scobleizer – cool social media dude, met him at tweetup yesterday @chrisbrogan – always very interesting comments on social media / marketing @problogger – the original “blog about blogging”

What is one thing people can do for you?

Check out my blog, see what I am about. If you like it subscribe, stop by again, tell about it to your friends… standard stuff.
