Tell me about your Blog?
Debt Free Hispanic is a blog about personal finance from a Hispanic perspective. It is in English, although many people associate the word Hispanic and assume Spanish speaking. I write about ways to save money and pay down debt. Since our income will make us wealthy, I talk about how to free it up by paying down personal debt. I am also frugal in my thinking and I like to share my ideas with my readers. I’m a Dave Ramsey fan and my wife and I were able to scream “I’M DEBT FREEEEEEEE” on his show. You can hear the call on my blog under the About page.
What was your first blog?
My first blog was created on Blogspot. Coincidently it was Debt Free Hispanic, but I didn’t know how to customize the theme so I moved it to a self-hosted WordPress blog. Now I run the Thesis theme on my blog and it looks the way I want it.
What is the biggest tip you would give to a newbie blogger?
Blog about what you enjoy. Some people get caught up in the look of the blog rather than the content. Start off small, learn some things and then spend some extra money on a better looking blog.
What do advertisers do that you wish they wouldn’t?
I wish they wouldn’t go after you when your blog is taking off. I fell into the trap of selling links and it hurt my blog and ranking.
What do bloggers do that you wish they wouldn’t?
I wish that bloggers wouldn’t create so many blogs. Stick to 2 or 3 at the most and give all your energy to those blogs. I hate seeing blogs just sitting without any new content.
Where do you see growth in the blogging field?
There is so much growth happening right now. It’s like people are just starting to hear about blogging. So many have been skeptical of creating one, sort of like joining a new social media site, you wait until the majority are on board.
What new ideas are advertisers coming up with to take advantage of new trends?
I see a lot of advertisers turning to affiliate programs. It’s insane how fast your company name can travel around the web when you offer to pay someone a piece of the pie in regards to revenue.
What do you do to improve the world?
I teach people to live a life of purpose. I’m a believer of the Lord Jesus Christ and I share about Him with others. If I can change people’s lives, I feel a peace in my heart.
What do you do that is green?
I do everything online. I do my banking online and pay all my bills. I love the idea of paperless billing.
What is one thing about you that not many people know?
I have a heart for small businesses. My parents both owned their own barber and beauty salon and I admire people who are willing to work for themselves and make their own living.
What’s your favorite book?
I love reading biographies. I read anything that has to do with how others went from rags to riches. I like to read about how people work hard to get to where they are now.
What is on your iPod?
I listen to a lot of Daughtry. I love to listen to Monster Ballads, you know the 80’s rock and love songs.
What are your contact details (email, company, blog, facebook, myspace, forums, etc)?
My blog is: www.debtfreehispanic.com
My membership site is: www.websidual.com
My twitter is: www.twitter.com/debtfree
What events do you go to?
I go to events on small business. Just went to a workshop led by an organization called SCORE, they assist people who want to start a small business.
How do you prefer to communicate?
Best way to contact me is through my contact form: www.debtfreehispanic.com/contact
Who would you recommend, and why?
I recommend Dave Ramsey because he has great knowledge of getting out of debt. Plus he is motivating to listen to.
What is one thing people can do for you?
I would say become an affiliate on www.websidual.com. I’m an honest guy trying to help small businesses; small churches and individuals get their own blog website online.
