Max Humphreys tell me about your new job?

It’s fantastic, we have a great team here at Neverblue.  I’m excited about the growth prospects for the company and the industry as a whole. 

How did you get into affiliate marketing?

My background has been in consumer software, subsequently  at ACD Systems, I was responsible for establishing their Affiliate program and was involved in setting up DivX’s programs as well as a consultant.  I’ve seen the effects that well run Affiliate programs can have on a company’s growth and performance.

What was your biggest challenge getting into affiliate marketing?

As an Advertiser, the biggest challenge is to establish a program that can work with top Affiliates requirements vs. competing offers. 

What are the main things merchants do that you wish they wouldn’t?

I think one of the core challenges is if a company doesn’t fully understand their backend metrics prior to engaging in Affiliate Marketing.  For example, if  a company goes out to aggressive with payouts and then lowers them substantially, this tends to decrease the chances of a successful campaign.  Furthermore it upsets the Affiliate community and doesn’t allow you to build in new offers, and establish longer term relationships.

What new ideas are advertisers coming up with to take advantage of new traffic sources?

I think some of the obvious ones of late is the impact of social media  and how new Advertisers are setting up interesting campaigns to work in this area. 

What do you do to improve the world?

I have volunteered for a number of programs in Victoria over the years.  Also living in Victoria, I try to walk, and bike as much as possible.  This obviously decreases my overall carbon footprint and helps me to stay in shape!

What is one thing about you that not many people know?

Both my parents are musicians.

What is on your iPod?

I listen to all types of music from Classical, Jazz, to Dance / Electronica, Hip Hop, Classic Rock, etc.

What’s your favorite book?

I’m a pretty avid reader so don’t really have a favorite.

If Affiliates are looking for a specific offer (or some new concept they want to try with an Advertiser) come talk to us as we will go out and talk to the Advertisers to try to get it for them.
