Amy Lowe

Tell me about your Blog –

I’m a stay-at-home mom who discovered bargain-hunting as a means of self-preservation. I love spending money way too much, and finding bargains became like a game. I loved bragging about my great “finds”. And then my friends & family started emailing me to find bargains for them, so I figured I might as well consolidate all the information into a blog and save myself some trouble.

What was your first blog?

Dealusional is my first blog! I’m excited to enter the world of bloggers, I’ve had a lot of great support and there are so many other wonderful bloggers I’ve met because of it.

What is the biggest tip you would give to product reviewers?

Be honest! I post a lot of deals on my site, and while I haven’t tried all the products I list, I am honest about those I have tried. Ultimately it is up to the reader whether or not they want to try the product, but I want them to be as informed as possible.

Are you contacted by advertisers or do you contact them or both?

I’ve signed up for MyBlogSpark and have received products to review through them. It’s a great program and I’ve enjoyed the benefits! But I always disclose that the products I do receive are from there.

What do advertisers do that you wish they wouldn’t/ do that you like?

Advertisers in general are great! They are giving us a great opportunity to try products or have affiliate relationships that we wouldn’t otherwise be able to have.

Some advertisers can be finicky and don’t want you to use things like coupon codes over a certain amount on your site. I want my readers to get the best deal possible, and this can get frustrating if there’s a coupon for a greater amount. I try not to have relationships with companies like this.

What do bloggers do that you wish they wouldn’t/do that you like?

All the bloggers I’m in contact with are great – they give honest reviews and disclose where the product came from and any compensation.

I really dislike when people are dishonest and do not disclose that they received the product for free.

What advertiser would you like to work with given a chance?

I’d really like to work with Sephora. I post quite a few of their deals, but haven’t been able to establish a relationship with them just yet!

Where do you see growth in the blogging field?

I think there’s so much opportunity in blogging! Companies are just now starting to figure out that bloggers have a voice. We are your everyday person – we know what it’s like to juggle kids, work, a spouse, a house. We are their targets, and we can help them not only in marketing their products, but also in developing them.

What is one thing about you that not many people know?

I’m really a Type-A person – anal-retentive, perfectionist! I will organize anything I can and need to be in charge of everything!

What’s your favorite book?

Wow, it’s hard to pick just one favorite book! We love, love, love books in my family, but a great one I read recently is The Kite Runner.

What is on your iPod?

Everything from Enya to classical to metal to Geography Songs (those are my daughter’s!)

What are your contact details?

Give feedback! I love when I get emails from my readers letting me know that they loved a deal, and what they like to see from my deals. It helps me connect more with my audience and target those deals to them a bit more.
