You may recall seeing me as part of a social media influencer marketing program last December in San Francisco. It was fun to be a part of it, and an interesting take on using social media for influencer marketing. The company, Attack!, is officially announcing their service this week.
Their approach is to identify influencers both from their own database and elsewhere in social media, then design a “custom multimedia experience” for those influencers. In my case, that involved being one of the first 50 people to try out a holiday gift finder quiz and get free funny t shirts in the mail. I passed the quiz on, posted a photo of the shirt, and still wear it from time to time.
The program does a good job of staying authentic and being fun. I was not in San Francisco for phase 2, but they followed up the online portion of the program with a visit for some of the participants to the Headline Shirts warehouse where they sat down for pints with the owner. You can watch a video of that here.
Not bad. If you’re looking for a new take on influencer marketing, or some ideas about what to do with your influencers once you find them in a listening or monitoring program, I recommend giving their site a visit and seeing what the new Social Underground service is all about.
