The One Fantastical Nina Say An Interview

You wouldn’t know by reading Nina’s blog that she is a young mother (19 years old). It’s not that she doesn’t write in her own voice, but she is very mature. She shows that by getting her product reviews done in a timely manner and by what her priorities are.

Nina Say

Tell me about your Blog

My blog The One Fantastical was created to give others content to read from the prospective of a wife, mother and student. I love to use my blog to connect to people, may it be by hosting reviews, or giving away products to my readers. I absolutely love the community aspect of operating a blog.

What was your first blog?

My current blog is my first “official” blog. I have played around with a few during my school years, but this blog has been the one I have put the most time and effort into.

What is the biggest tip you would give to product reviewers?

Make sure you communicate as well as you possibly can with your PR reps. Nothing is worse that a horrible miscommunication. Also, make sure you provide your review in a timely fashion. You don’t want to have the rep waiting 3 months for something that could be done within 3 days.

Are you contacted by advertisers or do you contact them or both?

Both, as much as I would love to be contacted by advertisers and be flooded with review pitches, that is not realistic. If you want to get your foot in the door, you have to put in effort. A lot of effort. Once you sit down and put yourself and what you can offer out there, you will see that companies are more than willing to work with you.

What is your favorite product that you have reviewed?

So far, my favorite item has been the wonderful baby care products from Eco Store USA. The products they offer are superb. And not only do I love them, by daughter loves when we use them.

What do advertisers do that you wish they wouldn’t/ do that you like?

I honestly cannot stand when you never hear back from an advertiser that you have contacted. They could at least respond with a nicely put “no thank you, try again later.” It makes their reps seem unfriendly and hard to work with.

What do bloggers do that you wish they wouldn’t/do that you like?

I think that bloggers should not look at blogging as such a competition. There have been a few instances where some bloggers decide to talk down to other bloggers that did not necessarily do anything wrong. Blogging is about the community and making friends, not burning your own bridges.

What advertiser would you like to work with given a chance?

I would be thrilled to work with Apple. I have only tasted the sensation that they have spread with their products, and I would be the happiest camper you have ever known if I had the opportunity to work with them.

Where do you see growth in the blogging field?

I think that people should really find their niche. Crossing the lines between “Mommy Blogger” and “Tech Blogger” can really mess up your readers. You want people to always know what to expect from you.

What is one thing about you that not many people know?

I am a young mother. Which makes my views a lot different than others.

I see that you do graphic design. Tell me about it please.

I first was introduced to graphic design when I was in high school, and from then on I have been self taught… I have bought books, read an extensive number of tutorials, and have used trial and error to be where I am today. I am not perfect, but I love what I do. I did not code my own blog, no, but all of the colors and graphics are my own creations. I am very proud of it.

Do you belong to any other forums besides Role Mommy?

I belong to one other forum, the MomDot community forum. You must be approved to join, but it is the best community I have ever been a part of.. and Trisha, the owner has been one of the most helpful people I have ever met.)

What’s your favorite book?

My favorite book is “Pride and Prejudice” I fell in love with this epic story when I was 8 years old, and will always love it.

What is on your iPod?

I have a lot of acoustic music, such as (but not limited too) The Spill Canvas and Mayday Parade.

How do you prefer to communicate?

I strongly prefer email, that way a message is never missed.

Who would you recommend, and why?
