There are five main ways to make money writing product reviews on your blog:
1) Use affiliate links within your blog post. Write posts that cause a reader to want to buy. Include photographs and well written descriptions.
2) Get paid for your product review by an advertiser or a Blogging Network like Izea. Compensation is often in the form of gift cards if you work with advertisers as well as the product itself. Be sure that if you are within the US, that you follow the new FTC guidelines for your blog post by disclosing that you are writing a sponsored post and have a Disclosure Policy.
3) Link your product reviews that are not paid to posts with affiliate links or use a a plugin that shows related posts.
4) Become a digital influencer, like the Walmart ElevenMoms. Although these bloggers do not get paid for their contributions, with their increased exposure, they are in the position to become a leader and an authority on product reviews. This is turn can lead to more paid and higher paying review posts.
5) Engage with other bloggers, advertisers and affiliate marketers at events. Again this will lead to more ways to earn money with your blog posts. This can grow into speaking on panels, becoming a keynote speaker and so much more. Consider paid tweets, teaching other bloggers, becoming a top affiliate blogger, etc. The sky is the limit.
If you are brand new to writing blog product reviews before you can earn money you do need to connect with advertisers. The new product reviewer may start writing free reviews and work their way up the ladder. Keep your expectations high, but understand that no one starts at the top.

Excellent advice Connie. I’ve tried to incorporate all these techniques into my blog, and have recently rewritten my Disclosure Policy. Also, I’ve added some good alt tags to my scenic photographs of New England and was recently contacted regarding selling the rights to one.
Thank you Cindi. That’s great to hear about your photograph. I hope more of that type of work comes your way.
